World-famous comedian Lane Benson suffers World-famous comedian, Lane Benson, suffers an onstage meltdown moments after being told he must rush home to Omaha to meet the biological mother he never knew before she passes away. Questioning his own identity, Lane returns home, finding he has to choose between the adopted family that loves him or the fame and safety he’s created if he ever hopes to feel the love he desperately craves.
Jester is an existential drama, exploring the essential elements of identity and self.
Who are you, if you don’t know where you came from? Can you ever have a true sense of self if your formative years are stripped from you, beyond your control? Is it possible to learn to love if, as a child, your early attempts were frequently met with being sent to a new foster home?
